3.0 star ratingStaff, especially housekeeping staff, need to be trained to provide better customer services. They failed to greet on seeing hotel guests and did not even clean the room till 3.45 pm. He even asked if we need the room to be clean! The room access cards failed to work properly on several occasions and the air-con was not even working after we checked in. In other words, hotel maintenance is poor.Anonymous 08 September 2014
2.0 star rating Heart of Bukit Bintang shopping Simple breakfast offered but appreciate that the cafe allowed me to bring my 3children in without extra costs. Got family room with 1 king and 1single bed. Room air condition was bad. No air coming out from vents in the smaller room. Big no no for families who ate looking to stay in this room unless the hotel makes some renovation. Spent around 2hrs checking out other floors with the same problem. Finally settled for a room with big enough space for an extra bed. Can be frustrating experience if not for the front desk who was pretty patient changing the rooms for me. I guess it's common problem they face daily. The family room seems seldom used anyway. The sealed water in the fridge was only 3/4 full. Still wondering what could have caused the bottled water to be in that condition. Anonymous 15 September 2014
1.5 star ratingFirst and foremost, when I entered the room after a long registration period, I was very disappointed to find the room very very dirty and not even cleaned before I checked in. So I had to call housekeeping. They did not even checked if I had just checked in or I was in the middle of my stay. The housekeeping staff only wants to clean the beds without changing the bed sheets. I had to tell him to do so and he was not happy of doing the extra work. I had to again ask him to remove the remained shopping bags left by the previous customer which was too many and too significant to be missed. Then, there were rubbish on the floor which he did not even bother to vacuum the floor. Needless to say, the mattress and pillows were very dirty and the housekeeping staff was also embarrassed when I asked him. All he said was that the pillows can't be changed. The worst part of it was that there was a fold up extra lying in front of my room which can be a fire escape hazard if something were to happen. Overall, I will never return to stay in this hotel again. Wayne29 December 2014

2.5 star ratingThe hotel is in a great location for food, shopping, transport, etc. The swimming pool is great and very clean. The rooms are quite old and not very clean. I was travelling with my 2 children aged 13 & 15. The first room we were booked into was large and consisted of 2 rooms, one king size bed & one single bed. The air conditioner was not working properly and not cooling the room down. After complaining to the front desk we were offered another room, which was of a lower standard and again the air conditioning was not working properly and the bathroom was not very clean. A further room was offered to us which was half the size of the original room that we were given, but was certainly cleaner and the air conditioner was fully functional. Although their were a number of food options at breakfast, the hot food in the bain marie was only just warm, mushy & overcooked. Be careful if you are organising tours through the concierge staff as a couple of the staff members appear to negotiate their own prices for tours and line their own pockets rather than looking after the hotel guests. I was really disappointed in the hotel. It was old, dingey and unloved. A coat of paint wouldn't go astray, and the carpet replaced or cleaned. It would have been a good hotel in its day, but now it has just been let go, and no one seems to care about its appearance. The Royale Bintang is part of a chain of hotels in KL. I hear the other hotels are fantasic and have a very good reputation, however as for this one, I wouldn't stay there again.Linda02 August 2015

3.0 star ratingService was really slow when we arrived at around 11 that night. Got asked if we wanted to place a deposit for cash or card five times. When we got to the rooms, we had no towels. Called housekeeping, no one was there then called reception. No towels after call, called again, couldn't understand my english (from australia) had to talk REALLY SLOW. still no towels after this, had to physically go downstairs and ask again. Got them within a minute of returning to the room. Bathroom sink leaked the whole time, wet floor, showers were low. Close to shopping centres and food. Good price for just the rooms. Had a really good view of the Petronas Towers. Really just needs better service. The cakes in the cafe didn't look too nice. Anonymous 17 December 2015

2.5 star ratingStaff in the club lounge for breakfast and our floor cleaning staff were excellent - could not do enought to help. We first of all had a very bad experience on check-in due to front of house staff not reading our emails correctly, if they had of responded & told us we were not entitled to an extra fold out bed (expecially since we booked 2 rooms for 10 nights) we would of booked elswhere. In the end after negotiations at 11pm checkin and waiting around for a couple of hours the next day we received the fold out bed. The pool area really needs a makeover as does the floor we stayed on which had a very bad damp smell. Anonymous 10 January 2017
4.5 star ratingIt is close to all most major shopping and Jalan Alor, making shopping and enjoying local food at evening so much easier, it's one of the few hotels in Bukit Bintang that offer swimming pool. Stuff are professional and friendly.Air-con work differently between room to room, we booked two rooms, one of the room are warmer than the other. Not all the bathroom are renovated.Alioshar07 June 2017

3.0 star ratingThe pool and facilities were what you expect for the price. As soon as we walked into the first room we were issued we spotted cockroaches immediately. We were then moved into another room which was better than the first. The hotel is fantastic in terms of location this is why we choose the hotel however it definately requires updating. The shower did not drain properly so when you shower the water accumulates. The air conditioning leaks etc. AdelineTran12 January 2016
