Opening in December 2007, Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai will be a deluxe city resort distinctively styled and designed with inspiration taken from its Northern Thailand location.
Situated in a peaceful, beautifully landscaped setting the hotel will offer a large free-form swimming pool surrounded by mature plants such as frangipani, bamboo, ginger and lotus ponds, creating a pleasant and relaxed resort ambiance. Generous use of teak, Thai architectural influences combined with uncompromising Shangri-La standards and a contemporary style will set new standards for luxury hotels in the region. Open, light-filled spaces utilizing local artefacts, materials and rich fabrics will create an environment fully evocative of this exotic and culturally rich location.
The 281 large, spacious guest rooms will offer a contemporary Northern Thai design and décor, with the emphasis on comfort. Bedrooms will be cosy with plenty of throw pillows, comfortable Shangri-La beds, mood lighting, a separate work table and high-speed broadband Internet access. Premier guest rooms will also feature day beds that will be ideal for quiet relaxation.
Shangri-La’s executive floor, Horizon Club, will offer 60 guest rooms and suites and the 72-seat Horizon Club Lounge with meeting room (for 10 guests) and two computer work stations.
Conveniently located close to the bustling activity of Chiang Mai’s famous Night Bazaar, and just a 10-minute drive from Chiang Mai International Airport, this “city resort” also enjoys close proximity to fascinating museums, cultural centres, and Chiang Mai’s many temples, shops and boutiques.

The hotel will have four restaurants and bars including Kad Kafe - All Day Dining, Silapa Thai - Thai Restaurant and Bar, WoW Bar and Grill - a Poolside dining experience and The Lobby Lounge, all providing innovative concepts, authentic cuisine and live entertainment.
Piano and acoustic guitar will be the highlight of The Lobby Lounge, live acoustic bands and singers in the all-day dining and poolside restaurants, DJs in the Thai restaurant and bar and two outdoor stages will be the setting for cultural performances.
Child Policies
Currently no specific policy is available. It's likely that the common policy applies: Children below 12 years of age stay free of charge in their parent's room in a cot/rollaway bed. Breakfast for the child has to be purchased extra. For other children an extra bed has to be booked (Triple Room).
