4.0 star rating | Good points we were put in the new wing room large very good really big bed I had a bad cold for a couple of days so got up rather late even if one leaves the room at 3pm it is still made up some places don't do that as the house keeping staff are off shift then. Talking of cleaning there appeared to be some places where construction dust was still present from building not serious but merits note otherwise this was a pretty clean place breakfast quite good to be expected for the price but no varied change day to day. Now the down sides This hotel is rather a long from Chiang Mai 7 miles or so to the night market if that is what you wish to see but around 4 miles up the road is a small town called Doi Saket unless you have a car (we did) I wouldn't stay at this hotel unless you want to hang around the garden and chill out whilst there. Everything one must pay for internet 60 Baht an hour is rather expensive compared to 10 Baht in a internet cafe in Doi Saket! Bicycles boats swimming pool in botanical garden etc., are extra money they don't seem to be part of the hotel. My wife is Thai but lives in the UK (UK citizen and fluent English) with me and commented we were given little information when we got there news to us reading other reviews there is a free bus to the night market! In summary if your first time to Chiang Mai and you want to see more city type stuff stay in the city we stayed at Chiang Mai Plaza last year which is reasonable and within a 5 minute walk of the night market etc., also a better breakfast! It is easy to come out of the city to visit other places if wished but to have to keep going to the city for night centred things and restaurants every night is a drag! Choice is yours we probably wouldn't stay at Horizon again despite having a car. | Vanveen37 | 08 January 2012 | |
4.5 star rating | I've stayed here frequently since they opened. Grounds, facilities, staff & food are outstanding. Owner even remembers my name. Delux room worth the | 30-45 min drive to Night Bazar. Booking services always beat hotel's internet rate so use Hotelopia. | Mark B | 03 June 2014 |
