As you enter De Naga through the lobby, past the open areas, the mood gently evolves from traditional Lanna feel to a pleasant, but more contemporary style with touches of typical Chiang Mai.
 
Naga (na-ga) noun
Naga is a mythical multi-headed serpent with a large crested head resembling a cobra, symbolizing might, wealth, prosperity and fertility and is guardian of the Buddha and protector of earthly waters. The description of Naga is seen throughout Thailand's Buddhist temples in the form of snake-like patterns adorning temple walls and roofs.
 
In Northern Thailand legend, during the Lanna reign, it was believed that Naga appeared on earth to assist the kings in building their glorious cities and bestowed upon them immense wealth and power.
