Koh Samui Hotels List and Map

Please note: Star ratings for hotels in Thailand have to be taken with a grain of salt, as there is no established rating system in the Kingdom. Such a system is currently being developed under the auspices of the Thai Hotels Association and other industry bodies, and only some hotels are officially rates as yet. Today, many hotels effectively rate themselves. We try to augment this information by gathering data form agents like Studiosus® in Germany and other agencies known for rigorous evaluation of the hotels' quality and service standards.

Destination Overview for Koh Samui

Ko Samui combines postcard-perfect tropical settings with Thailand’s unparalleled charm into a truly addictive destination. Many visitors to the island return year after year because they just can’t live without it for long. Samui can be reached easily by air from Bangkok, Hua Hin and several international airports. The island is ideally suited for self-exploration by motorcycle or car. A ring road leads all the way around and the vistas of the seashore with white beaches under coconut palms and huge rocks are truly stunning. The inner of the island is still used for copra products and features millions of coconut palms as well as waterfalls and the typical rock formations in tropical forest. Many hotels are located on Chaweng and Lamai beaches on the east coast of the Ko Samui, where development is densest. For quieter beaches with less nightlife, check out Mae Nam and Bo Phut (Big Buddha Beach) for example. While Ko Samui offers less variety than Phuket in activities, landscape and beaches, it has a more stable and sunnier climate because it’s less affected by the South-West monsoon. And combined with sand, sea and abundant coconut palms, Samui is an unforgettable tropical dream.
